Waiting for the photos to be edited by the photographer and finally delivered weeks later. It’s so incredibly hard to not reach out to the photographer and ask how the progress is going. By the way, please never do that π Trust me, if you’re not a photographer reading this, know that we are working on them and making them perfect for delivery! I know when it’s Ryan and I’s turn to get married, I’m going to want to see some gorgeous portraits of us and post them AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. Because it’s exciting!! You’re still on that high of just getting married to the love of your life and you’re going on your honeymoon together. It’s such a sweet time. And what does this all have to do with a Same Day Slideshow? EVERYTHING!
I thought to myself, “How can I come at this problem and solve it for my couples on their wedding day?”
*Cue Katelyn James and her endless wisdom*
Do a Same Day Slideshow! This is a slideshow of 10-20 of the BEST images from your couple’s wedding day, already edited, ready to show your bride and groom AND deliver them in a gallery that night to them and the vendors! I started doing this at the end of last year for my couples and I’ll continue doing this forever. And today I’m giving you 5 reasons WHY you should start doing a Same Day Slide show too!
I’ll do a future blog post about gifting soon and why I believe it’s so important but think about this… Have you ever gone to Publix, gone to the register with your stuff and had the cashier say, “Oh this item is BOGO this week! Can we pick you up the other free one?” You’re like, “UHH HECK YEAH!” It’s an awesome surprise that you got something for free without knowing you’d get it for free.
Same goes for your clients when you don’t mention when they book that they’ll be receiving a few gifts from you throughout their experience. These gifts don’t have to always spend money on either. Incorporating a Same Day Slideshow as a surprise gift for the client experience doesn’t cost you a penny. Your bride and groom are going to be STUNNED that you’re so on top of your game that you already are showing them edited photos on their wedding night that they can share! Which leads me to my next point.
We’ve all been there. You don’t give sneak peeks until a few days after the wedding and the bride has already shared Uncle Joe’s iPhone photo of them walking down the aisle and it has 1,000,000 likes + 500 comments π€¦π»ββοΈ The first photo the couple shares is going to get the most engagement. They paid you a lot of money to be there then you see this on Facebook and your heart sinks. You feel so defeated and useless and that you missed an opportunity for that to be YOUR photo. A Same Day Slideshow FIXES THIS PROBLEM!
It’s nothing wrong on the bride and groom for sharing an iPhone picture if that’s the only one they have after the wedding! They’re excited and want to shout it to the world that they tied the knot! Now when you do a Same Day Slideshow and send them that gallery the night of, which photo do you think they’ll share first? π One from your gallery! Now all the friends and family will be seeing your photo front and center! AYY AYY AYYYYYY π€©
Other vendors that were part of your bride and groom’s special day rely on you (the photographer) to offer images for them to use on their social media platforms for advertising purposes. We often overlook how easily we can take images and use them to advertise our own business while other vendors struggle to get content for themselves. This is how you become a HERO to these vendors! Immediately following the wedding, I send out the gallery via CloudSpot to my couple THEN to the vendors with a message telling them how I loved working with them for that wedding and want to give them these high resolution images for them to freely use wherever they’d like!
The responses I’ve gotten have been so uplifting. Y’all… Barely any photographers do this! Vendors are so beyond thankful for this surprise and 99% of the time, they tag me in the caption and photo so my name is being spread out in the process! Most of these vendors are doing weddings every weekend so can you see why it’s important to send these images to them as soon as possible? After just a couple days, they’re onto another wedding with another couple and the wedding from last weekend is old news!
I don’t know about you but the day after a wedding, I need a rest day. Don’t want to do very much of anything because my body is achy and I’m so tired! I do however want to post a gorgeous sneak peek or two on Instagram and Facebook and tag my couple! Other photographers wait days after to post a picture but I personally can’t wait. I love showing new images online and love serving my clients this way so they have something to share online as well! The images are already uploaded to CloudSpot so all I need to do is Air Drop the files to my phone and post! Super easy!
Lastly, I’ve been shooting weddings since I was 15 years old so I hope it shows people that this is a job that brings me so much joy. I create a personal relationship to all of my couples and I just love seeing them happy. Seeing their reactions to the slideshow (Remember! They didn’t see it coming) is something I can’t even find words to describe. They’re so shocked at how quick they get to see images and most of the time, they cry and then I cry and it’s all a huge tear festπ Their family is amazed and everyone is aww-ing while watching. It gives me so much genuine happiness to serve my couples and their families throughout their experience and this is just one more way to do that!
Have I convinced you yet? I hope so! If you start implementing Same Day Slideshows to your wedding client experience, tell me! Tell me how it goes! I want to hear how it’s working for you! I hope you enjoyed this free resource and if you did, comment below! I’d love to start sharing more tips that I’ve learned and that work with you! π
